How to Read the Digital Display on Your ProMate Softener

Posted on 27. Mar, 2019 by in All Blogs, Water Softener

The digital vale of your ProMate 6 water softener (or filter) scrolls through a series of information designed to give the customer a quick glimpse of what is going inside the unit.

Installer Information:
This includes the company name and phone number who installed the unit.

Time of Day:
This is what time the unit thinks it is. This should always be set to the current time or the unit may regenerate when water is being used in the home. If you have a softener it is factory programmed to regenerate at 2 AM. If you have a filter, it is factory programmed to regenerate at Midnight.

If the time of day is not correct and you need help resetting the clock, view our timer reset blog for a detailed instructions on how to do so.

Days To A Regen (Filter):
This shows how many days will pass before the unit regenerates again.

If you are experiencing water quality issues and wish to begin the regeneration process early, view our regeneration blog for detailed instructions on how to do so.

Capacity Remaining (Softener):
This shows how many more gallons of water can be used before the unit will begin its regeneration. It is important to note the softener will NOT begin its cycle the moment the capacity remaining reaches zero! It will instead regenerate at its normally programmed time of 2 AM.

Flow Rate:
This reading indicates if water is passing through your unit or not. If it is reading 0.0 gpm it simply means no water is being used in the home! If there is a reading other than 0.0 gpm this means water is being used in the home and that is the rate of speed (in gallons per minute) that it is flowing through the water treatment equipment.

Regen Today:
If the words “Regen Today” are flashing on the display, this indicates the unit will regenerate at its factory programmed time that night.

Needs Service:
If your unit is flashing that it’s time for service, it does not mean there is something wrong with the unit. The valves are programmed with a 365 day countdown as a way to remind you it is time for annual service.
